SSPE buffer is a standard reagent used in Southern and Northern hybridization procedures. Composed of sodium chloride, phosphate, and EDTA, it is primarily used for nucleic acid hybridization (RNA in Northern blot, DNA in Southern blot). SSPE buffer is also utilized in molecular biology applications such as immunocytochemistry, cell culture, and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) for effective cell sorting.
