Product details
U-Blot™ Fungal Antibiotics (Triple Antibiotics,100×) is a sterilized penicillin-streptomycin- amphotericin B solution (100X), filtered through 0.1μm and can be directly added to cell culture media. In addition to conventional bacterial antibiotics, it also contains the fungal antibiotic amphotericin B, making it an antibiotic-antimycotic agent. This broad-spectrum solution targets bacteria, fungi, and yeast.
The Penicillin-Streptomycin-Amphotericin B solution, commonly called “Triple Antibiotics,” is widely used in in vitro cultures. Penicillin disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis, effective against Gram-positive bacteria; streptomycin binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit to inhibit protein synthesis, effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially Gram-negative bacteria; amphotericin B binds to ergosterol in fungal cell membranes, increasing permeability and causing cell death, but is ineffective against bacteria. Together, these antibiotics help prevent contamination from both bacteria and fungi.
To avoid microbial contamination, especially in precious cell lines, it is essential to add antibiotics to the cell culture medium. Once contamination occurs, cells may become unusable.
Application
Triple antibody specifically for cell culture
Main components
In the penicillin-streptomycin-amphotericin B solution (100X), the content of penicillin is 10 kU/ml, the content of streptomycin is 10 mg/mL, and the content of amphotericin B is 25 μg/mL. The solution is prepared with 0.9% sodium chloride.
