Product details

Background:
Cytokeratin 5/6 are high molecular weight keratins, which are normally expressed in squamous epithelium, basal cells of ductal epithelium, mesothelial cells, myoepithelium and basal cells of prostate, but not in glandular epithelium. Most adenocarcinoma are negative, and some adenocarcinoma can be weakly positive. The antibody is mainly used for the differential diagnosis of mesothelioma and adenocarcinoma, as well as the study of benign and malignant tumors of epithelial origin.

ImmunogenSynthesized peptide derived from human Cytokeratin 5 and Cytokeratin 6 AA range: C terminal amino acids 500-590 of Cytokeratin 5 and N terminal amino acids 2-100 of Cytokeratin 6
SpecificityThe antibody can recognize both human CK5 and CK6 protein, and shows no cross reaction with other typies of cytokeratin. In western blotting of A431 cell lysate, there shows a 56 kDa band dectected by the antibody.

FunctionFunction: Required for the formation of keratin intermediate filaments in the basal epidermis and maintenance of the skin barrier in response to mechanical stress (By similarity). Regulates the recruitment of Langerhans cells to the epidermis, potentially by modulation of the abundance of macrophage chemotactic cytokines, macrophage inflammatory cytokines and CTNND1 localization in keratinocytes (By similarity). Epidermis-specific type I keratin involved in wound healing. Involved in the activation of follicular keratinocytes after wounding, while it does not play a major role in keratinocyte proliferation or migration. Participates in the regulation of epithelial migration by inhibiting the activity of SRC during wound repair.
