Background：Growth/differentiationfactor 15 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GDF15 gene. It is aprotein belonging to the transforming growth factor beta superfamily,and it hasattracted considerable attention due to its ability to curb food intake andpromote weight loss in rodent models of obesity.1 GDF15 is expressed bymultiple tissues, primarily the liver and the kidney, but also in white (WAT)and brown adipose tissue (BAT) and skeletal muscle and plays an important partin the integrated cellular stress response.
