Background:
Succinyllysine (abbreviated as Ksucc) is an acylation-type post-translational modification occurring on lysine residues of proteins. By covalently attaching a succinyl group to the side chain of lysine, this modification markedly alters the charge and physicochemical properties of amino acid residues. Ksucc is widely distributed on both histone and non-histone proteins, and is critically involved in chromatin remodeling, gene transcription, energy metabolism, and mitochondrial function.
