Product details

The affinity purified rabbit polyclonal anti-phospho-serine (anti-pS) was developed using phospho-serine-KLH conjugates and a phospho-protein mixture as the immunogen. The phospho-serine specific antibody was affinity purified with serine-phosphorylated peptide immobilized in agarose. The affinity-purified anti-pS was conjugated to peroxidase (HRP). Direct application of the primary conjugates will avoid non-specific signals, particularly due to the antibody signal on Western blot analysis of IP’s with antibodies from the same species.

BackgroundSerine phosphorylation is one of the most prevalent and reversible post-translational modifications in eukaryotic proteins. Catalyzed by kinases and reversed by phosphatases, this modification covalently attaches a phosphate group to the hydroxyl group of serine residues. It alters protein charge, conformation and intermolecular interactions, acting as a core molecular switch to regulate cell cycle, signal transduction, proliferation, differentiation, metabolism and immune response. Dysregulated serine phosphorylation is implicated in inflammation, cancer and multiple human diseases.
