PBST (Phosphate Buffered Saline with Tween-20) is a phosphate-buffered saline containing Tween-20, widely used in biological experiments. It provides a stable ionic environment and pH buffering capacity. PBST is primarily used in immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, ELISA, Western blotting, and washing immunoblot membranes.
The inclusion of Tween-20, a non-ionic detergent, reduces non-specific binding and protein-protein interactions during washing steps, improving clarity and specificity in experimental results.
